You are a passionate small business person and you’ve tried to create your own website, but it constantly needs updating. How can you possibly keep up with your business affairs and always keep fresh material on your website? The economy is very tight right now and perhaps it’s just not in your budget to hire a professional web developer to manage your site.
There is another solution!
I’m looking for a part-time job. I am currently a student and I have a special needs son that needs additional help sometimes so I’ve found it very difficult to find a position that can be as flexible as I need it to be. I already spend time creating WordPress websites for several non-profit organizations as a volunteer and I enjoy doing it so much, I want to do more!
I’ve been a small business person most of my life so I know what it means to have a very low budget for marketing and advertisement. But during a slow business period is exactly when you need to be promoting your business more. Let me design a semi-custom template, set up your site and maintain it for you. You can look at the websites I have created to see that I provide a professional look and I love to learn about new things so I will be able to make your WordPress website do just about anything you might need it to do.
What do you need? An e-commerce site, a monetized blog, newsletter subscriptions (for sale or free), membership forums, or whatever you need, I can do it. I have an extensive background in both print and web design and can even promote your site using SEO and various Social Networking platforms.
You can choose what services you need me to do, too. If you can only afford to have me set up your site, I’ll be happy to consult with a member of your staff to get them started on maintaining the site for you once it is set up.
Do you already have a wordpress site but can’t maintain it? I can maintain an existing site and make recommendations for updates when needed.
You call the shots. I’m here for you, AND I’m affordable.
Don’t let a tough economy keep you from getting ahead.
Take action now!

Learning never ends, even when you are no longer going to school. Every day we learn something new and useful. And even the days when we don’t learn something new, we probably learn a new way to use the knowledge we have.
I am passionate about continuously growing and learning and while I enjoy school as much as any academia loving person, I realize I cannot stay here forever. While I finish up my last semsters of school I’m going to be looking into how I can use this education I have received. There are a lot of possibilities. Here are a few ways that I would consider being my dream job.
I love people and I’m passionate about families. I believe that families are the foundation of our society. Unfortunately our society has been mislead many times by pop-culture and media. I believe in a culture that seeks truth in meaning in love and respect. Our society has abandoned this search and replaced it with traditions and doctrines that no longer fit with the newfound knowledge of our century.
I have created and participated in some wonderful secular communities. One is a community that serves homeschoolers in their search to find support, social and educational opportunities for their children. This community is not religion based and is open to all homeschooler regardless of religious beliefs, family design or homeschooling style.
Another community that is small but growing is our Secular Family Network. This community was formed using the secular homeschooling model as a guide but is open to all families. This is a new concept and it takes time for people to accept new things sometimes. Since our community has a lot of transient families due to the number of military bases in our area, the families that take advantage of this community are generally only in the area for a short time therefore our membership fluctuates a lot.
My dream job would be to find a fiscal sponsor to start a non-profit inclusive homeschool association. I say start but really the association has been running, casually, for 6 or 7 years already. The number of families choosing to homeschool their children for educational reasons rather than religious reasons has increased greatly and I am finding that it takes more and more of my time to do the things that I do for the homeschool community. I believe that this association serves a vital purpose in our own small community and I would like to be able to offer more things to homeschoolers such as workshops, classes, events, field trips, mentoring, and counseling. I would also like to be able to offer workshops to other homeschool groups to help them learn how to get their own inclusive support groups up and running.
When the time is right I would like to continue with this non-profit idea and do the same for the Secular Family Network as well. I believe that this organization could be a benefit to county, state and federal organizations that are designed to help families get started, or get back on their feet, with financial and mental well being and stability. It could also benefit any family that doesn’t have other systems of support available such as family, friend or relatives as well as those who do but look for a similar-minded community.
I realize these are some pretty lofty goals. I have a number of wonderful friends and acquaintances that have supported me in these endeavors for a number of years. Obviously I will have to continue to depend on their support as well as some new supporters. I will need some partners in this also. I have a few people in mind and will be talking with them soon.
But we can’t get this off the ground without funding.
What do I need from you?
As I said before, I need a fiscal sponsor to be able to get this off the ground. But beyond financial assistance I need some people that are familiar with starting up and operating non-profits. I will need supporters who can help me with keeping records and keeping on task.
If you are curious about this, just ask. I love to talk about my passions. Maybe I’ll be able to talk you into getting on board with me. I am friendly, but firm in my belief that the only way that this will be successful is for people who believe passionately in seeking truth and meaning with love and respect.

Over the last 24 years I have been a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM) only in that I didn’t have a regular 9-5 job outside of the home. When my husband and I moved to Pensacola, FL in 1997 our three children were all elementary age, 4th grade and below. We had moved from a very small town into a much larger area and we were concerned with the effect an 850 mile move from a family community to a larger town would have on our children. This was a problem, but no problem is unsolvable. We decided to give homeschooling a try.
From 1984 until 1997 I was operating a typesetting (desktop publishing) business from my home though at times I rented a separate office space to work from. I supplied several small printers and other organizations with camera-ready copy. Everything from business cards, logos and letter heads to small booklets. I was able to do this and keep my children in child care only part-time.
Managing children is a career unto itself. If you’ve raised children you may know what I mean. But in 1997 when we made the decision to homeschool it definitely became my career choice and I took this job seriously. Besides homeschooling my children I took over a small homeschool group in 2005 and organized field trips, educational cooperatives and social activities for the homeschool families in our group. Since then our group has grown tremendously and I have handed over most of the management to a trusted member since all of my children are now gradutated from homeschooling.
To help homeschoolers in our area I created a website with local information about how to homeschool, and all of the necessary contact information for various school districts in our area. The meat of the website is the information about the various groups in the area that are available. This was a much needed resource and many homeschoolers depend on this site when they first move into the area, as they begin their homeschool journey and even as veteran homeschoolers. The website also includes helpful links to global homeschool resources and strives to serve both religious and secular homeschoolers.
This was just the beginning of my SAHM career. So as not to make this post too lengthy I will finish this post as this shows how the bulk of my career got started but there is much more to tell of the years during and after my homeschool experience.
I read various social marketing and PR blogs on a regular basis including Chris Brogan, Seth Godin and PR Daily. I choose a different marketing strategy on each social networking site and for each organization according to the desired outcome. I’ve built and maintained local Twitter lists that have been followed by other organizations.
In my home school organization I maintained the discussion lists, organized activities, promoted other home school organzations as well as my own and looked for networking opportunities. I sell advertising space on our home school website and promote our advertisers through articles and social marketing.
I worked for the Pensacola State College school newspaper, The Corsair, for two semesters. One semester I worked as the Marketing Manager. I worked on improving the newspaper website by making adjustments to the layout, adding a Twitter and Facebook feed and keeping the news stories and links as updated as possible. I also worked at increasing readership by adding graphic elements to the newspaper to motivate readers to submit blog posts and letters to the editor.
During my second semester at The Corsair I worked as the Community Conversations Editor and continued working with some elements of social marketing for the paper. I interviewed, hired and worked directly with opinion writers and edited stories in all areas of the paper.
I will finish up my school career with PSC in the fall of 2011 or spring of 2012 and then I plan to continue my studies at UWF the following summer.
Hobbies that I have enjoyed are gardening, photography and website design. I particularly enjoy designing themes for WordPress, Joomla and other content management systems using a program called Artisteer. I create my own logo’s and web images using simple logo design software. In years past I have used a professional program that is no longer used by professional called Arts & Letters, for logo design. I have limited experience using some Adobe products such as InDesign and Photoshop. I always enjoy learning new programs in order to achieve a goal.
I am interested in working a part-time job beginning this summer after the middle of July, 2011 in marketing, public relations or Autism/Aspergers advocacy.
Most of my employment has been in the printing and book industry. I’ve worked for small and large companies starting from the bottom ranks to holding supervisory positions as well as owning my own small businesses. I am currently attending college and majoring in Journalism/Communications with the intention of continuing at a university to study Public Relations.
I have spent the last 15 years working as a home school mother, organizer in the home school community and as a leader of a secular home school group. I’ve created and managed a variety of websites for myself and for my home school organization and my church.
A lot of my time, over the last several years, has been spent on volunteer work with these organizations and acting as an advocate for my youngest son who was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome when he was about 15 years old. I have found that it is very difficult to find the support that he needed as an older child and now as an older teen and young adult with Asperger’s.
I am interested in working in fields related to Asperger’s/Autism advocacy, small business, website design, alternative education, liberal religion, humanism, or separation of church and state as a Public Relations Specialist, in marketing, advertisement, and community relations/organizing.
My varied range of work and life experience has given me a broad experience set, and an open mind that enables me to think “outside the box”, if you will. I will bring an unusual set of tools to your organization. I am a solution finder– when there is a problem I either work until I find the solution or make adjustments to the goal in order to achieve success. I am friendly but firm.
